Professional Interest/Expertise/Specializations:
Dr. Ali's current research interests are: * Hepatitis C virus (HCV)-induced hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), tumor/cancer stem cells (CSCs), treatment of liver diseases, hepatocyte plasticity and liver tissue regeneration*. Dr. Ali is conducting research on the signaling network of a tumor stem marker, Doublecortine kinase (DCLK1) in liver diseases, mechanism of virus-induced hepatic inflammation and cirrhosis, and cancer treatment by targeting tumor stem-like cells. His research interests also include molecular mechanism of protein synthesis in normal and disease conditions.
