Professional Interest/Expertise/Specializations:
Dr. Palmer received his M.D. from the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine in Oklahoma City after obtaining Bachelor's degrees in Molecular Biology and Biochemistry from the University of Colorado in Boulder, Colorado. He went on to join the Department of Urology's Residency Program at the OUHSC. After completing the 5-year residency program, he furthered his specialized training in the 2-year Pediatric Urology Fellowship at the OUHSC where he was further mentored by Dr. Brad Kropp and Dr. Dominic Frimberger in both the basic science lab and the clinical field of Pediatric Urology. Dr. Palmer joined the OUHSC Department of Urology Faculty as an Assistant Professor. Dr. Palmer has a general pediatric urology clinic seeing patients in Oklahoma City and Tulsa. He also sees pediatric renal transplant patients in the Oklahoma Transplant Center. He has special interests in reconstruction of congenital malformations, robotic surgery for the pediatric population, disorders of sexual differentiation and pediatric renal transplantation. He has research interests in surgical education, disorders of sexual differentiation and tissue engineering. He has numerous manuscript publications in peer reviewed journals, written a book chapter on bladder exstrophy, and presented at multiple regional and national meetings (American Urology Association and American Academy of Pediatrics). He is a member of the American Urology Association, American Academy of Pediatrics Section of Pediatric Urology, Society of Pediatric Urology, American Academy of Pediatric Urologists, Society of Fetal Urology and the American College of Surgeons. He has special certification by the American College of Surgeons in Fundamentals of Laparoscopic Surgery.
